Meet the Counselor: Jon Shaiman

While the day that Jon's weekly livestream ( returns to broadcasting from beloved barcade Flip Flip, Ding Ding can't come quickly enough - NWPSC is lucky to have him offer his time and Twitch stage (and juggling talents!) to a Saturday evening of community building and sharing stories. As there wasn't a lot of response for the talent show concept, we counselors are a pretty easy going and adaptable bunch, so he was quick to revise and I was just as quick to support a hopefully more relaxed and approachable option for us to connect from our various campsites. In his own words:
"We don't have many submissions for the talent show but that's no problem! I'll be taking on the fly submissions while the stream is live. I'll be juggling and bringing on my friends and family in the pinball community to talk pinball and tell stories of times and tournaments gone by. If you have a story you want to tell feel free to drop by to be brought in live or send me a message through Facebook or Email to get scheduled in." Email Jon at goblinjuggler@gmail!

When did you start playing pinball?
I started playing pinball when I was 9 or 10 years old. I'd play at arcades in between bouts of video games or at the laser tag arena between games.
What are your top three games?
Iron Maiden, Elvira House of Horrors, Black Knight 2000
Outside of pinball, what are your favorite hobbies? Juggling, Streaming, Playing Video games
Any pinball superstitions or competition rituals?

Not really, superstitions or rituals per se. Every time I step up to a game during tournament I take time to look at the playfield, think about where I am in the game and what I want to accomplish. Then I wipe my hands and make sure my clothing is sitting comfortably before plunging.

Who is a role model to you?
I'm team Chris Chinn. Such a ridiculously talented player with an amazing attitude. He's my favorite player to get thrashed by.
What pinball event (local, regional, or national) are you most excited to see the return of?
I can't wait for NWPAS to be back. I'm especially excited for Pinburgh as well since I've never been and I had planned to go for the first time this year.
